#Founding Designer

Location: Columbus, OH

Salary Range: $150,000 – $225,000

About RWX

RWX is a venture capital backed startup based in Columbus, OH. Our product is a cloud computing platform that software engineers and their AI agents use to run automation based on code changes, such as automated tests and deployments.

RWX is led by experienced founders Dan Manges and Tommy Graves. Previously, Dan was the cofounder and CTO of Root, which is now a publicly traded company. Prior to Root, Dan was the CTO of Braintree, which acquired Venmo and was then acquired by PayPal.

We’re currently a 7-person team with a product that customers absolutely love. Our momentum is growing with the transition to AI-driven software engineering, and we’re hiring an additional 10 people during 2026.

About the role

We’re hiring a Founding Designer to build and lead design at RWX.

You will define how the company looks, feels, and communicates across our website, marketing, sales, and eventually the product itself. Every external touchpoint will be shaped by your taste and judgment.

This is not a role where design is handed to you. You’ll decide what matters, what doesn’t, and where to invest. You’ll set the standard for quality and establish the systems that make that quality repeatable.

You’ll work directly with the founders to translate a highly technical product into something clear, compelling, and differentiated. The goal is not just to “look good,” but to make RWX legible and memorable to engineers.

In the early days, you’ll be deeply hands-on: designing the website, producing marketing assets, and shaping our visual identity. Over time, you’ll define the broader design function and, if you’re interested, build and lead a team.

What you’ll do

  • Define RWX’s visual identity and evolve it into a cohesive, durable system
  • Set a high bar for quality across all external surfaces
  • Own the design and direction of our website and key marketing experiences
  • Create materials that support how we sell and explain the product
  • Bring structure and intentionality to how design work is produced
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure design and implementation are aligned
  • Contribute to product UI where it meaningfully overlaps with brand and user experience

What we’re looking for

  • A strong point of view on design and the judgment to apply it well
  • A portfolio that shows both taste and the ability to build coherent systems
  • Comfort operating with very little structure or direction
  • The ability to simplify and communicate complex ideas visually
  • High standards and a bias toward clarity, not decoration
  • Strong collaboration with both founders and engineers

This is a senior role. You should be comfortable owning an entire design surface area and making decisions that shape how the company presents itself.

Location

This position is based in Columbus, OH. We’re about to lease office space at the Peninsula downtown and expect to work in the office most days, with some flexibility for convenience.
